So I was intrigued by a post by my friend and she said you should write a blog about it! A suitcase that follows you around. At first I thought no way this is a joke. Looked it up and it is the real deal! There are some pros and cons.
Pros- The obvious! You don't have to carry your luggage around! Let me tell you something! After two trips both to Florida where I had to carry around heavy luggage for hours I was immediately attracted to this product for this reason. I can't imagine the moms and the dads out their traveling with children and I can just hear them saying mom or dad I don't want to carry this anymore its too heavy or them leaving it somewhere because they want to play or take a nap during a long layover. This is just such a great idea for those reasons. I did read a review that stated what about people wanting to steal it because it is a suitcase that rolls behind you. That was a concern of mine as well. But the owner stated that the good thing about this suitcase is that it does come with a GPS so if it does get stolen it would be very easy to track so that is a good feature. I love the fact that you can also use it to charge your devices so no more stalking the outlets and sitting on the floor waiting for your phone to charge all while trying to hear any announcements for your flight. The suitcase also has a feature where it avoids people and obstacles as well. Does not mean that you wont look behind you every 2 seconds to make sure it still there and that it did not trip anyone running to their flight. If the airport loses your luggage it can be found easily with the GPS feature. The smartcase does also come with a few different warranty capabilities from 6 months - 2 years depending on what needs to be fixed.
Cons- You may be required to take out the battery for the suitcase when going through security so that might be a hassle that might also mean that you can not use its features until after you get through security. Also it may only be worth it to buy the carry on version of this suitcase because its self follow features do not yet work on outdoor surfaces so you would be spending over $1,000 dollars to only be able to use it one you enter the airport and until you get to the check in where you surrender your bags which is normally a very long walk. The product information on amazon only states that you can use the bag for 12 miles or to fully charge 8 phones but does not state how to charge it after that. Also the bag weighs 20lbs for the 21.6x15x8.3 which is not good because of the 50lb weight limit almost half of your weight limit is in the bag.
This is what I would say. If you want to get this bag read reviews make sure you buy from a trusted site like amazon because there are reports of the product being sold but no fulfillment of the product being shipped. And really ask yourself do you want to spend that much on a suitcase. The prices hopefully will become more competitive when more companies start to make them.
